Plate reads a poster: palette, type, elements

Upload a poster

Its palette, its type and its elements — read off the picture.

Drop in any poster, flyer or cover. Plate reads the colours it was printed in, measures the letterforms to work out how the type was set and names the closest free faces, then cuts every visual element out on transparency. All three come away as files.

  • PaletteEvery colour with its share of the sheet — as .ase, .gpl, .css, .json and a printable swatch sheet.
  • TypeWeight, width, case, slant, contrast, x-height and cap height per line, the closest free fonts, and the font files themselves.
  • ElementsPictures, marks, colour blocks and the bare backdrop, each a transparent PNG.
